Met up with Brian at the Malibu spot, I got there about 10:45 AM and Brian showed up around 11:00 AM. Set up shop in the normal area and fishing was DEAD for the first couple hours or so. First fish was caught by me at 1:30 PM, a huge 15.5" grassy that had a small whole perch in its mouth, and a baby lobster in it's belly. I thought it was huge until Brian started catching pigs. We moved further North to the new spot and Brian proceeded to pull in a 16" grassy at 2:02 PM, a 17" grassy at 2:31 PM and a 15.5" grassy at 3:49 PM. I also caught a little 11" grassy at 2:43 PM.
Final count was
Brian: 3 Pig grass rockfish
me: 1 pig 1 slow day keeper grass rockfish, but let it go today.
All caught on Squid.

Surf Fishing Malibu 12-29-2012
Decided to make a quick trip to Malibu. Arrived around 11:45 AM and left around 3:00 PM. Caught a small cabazon at 12:20 PM, then a calico perch at 12:50 PM. Nothing after that :(. Pretty slow day of fishing, but nice to be out.

Surf Fishing Malibu 12-22-2012
So the wife dropped me off at the Malibu spot a little before 8:00 AM. I fished alone until around 9:00 AM when Brian arrived. First fish of the day was caught by Brian at about 9:30 AM, then he caught a few more smaller grassies until I caught a nice 12" grassy at 10:55 AM by moving well North of my normal spot. Well, it looked nice until Brian hooks into a 16" grassy at 12:40 PM at the same further North spot, then a minute later I brought in a 15" cabby. We kept fishing till about 1:30 PM, then called it a day. Final count was five grass rockfish for Brian, one grass rockfish for me and a legal cabby. I also had a monster on a one point that snapped my 40 pound test like it was 4 pound test, it felt huge whatever it was. Another great day in Malibu...and I found a new spot too :) In the last pic below, the whole small perch was in the stomach of the 16" grassy, greedy little guy.

Hobson Beach 11-23-2012
After a sleep in the car overnight I woke up to breakfast with mom, dad, sister and her fiance. A little fishing first off though of course. Caught a nice 13" Calico Perch before breakfast. Then fished more after breakfast with Brian who drove up in the morning and my brother and dad in the afternoon. We all slayed the perch. I caught huge BSP and Calico Perch on squid, biggest was 13.5" and had a bite mark on it's side from something. Caught a total of 7 or 8 perch, keeping only the 12" plus ones for the parents. Brian also caught 5 or 6 BSP on squid, my brother caught a dozen or so on gulp camo sand worms (though most of his were the smaller versions), and my dad caught a few on squid as well. Great day of fishing with the family and friends

Hobson Beach 11-22-2012
What better way to celebrate Turkey day than a day at the beach with the family? Didn't do too much fishing, but did catch a nice 13" Black aka Buttermouth Perch, a small Cabazon and a small leopard shark fishing for a couple hours with squid. Fishing, food and family, what more could I ask for?
